Do Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin, and Angela Merkel or Speak English and German?<\/h1>\n

We all want to know, does Xi Jinping, Putin, and Merkel speak English and German? This is like asking, does XYZ talk to XYZ? It is a question of if, not of whether. The question can be answered with a resounding yes. Xi Jinping, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and Russian President Vladimir Putin are three of the most influential persons in the world. So it is only natural that as the most influential persons in their respective countries, these three heads of state must be very fluent in their native language, English and German.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why are leaders speaking English important?<\/span><\/h2>\n

When you think of a president or leader, you probably think of an influential person who can control a country or business. Good leaders are passionate and brilliant, but they also need to be highly educated and well-spoken. A good leader will usually be able to speak the official language of their country.<\/span><\/p>\n

But what if your country has more than one official language? What if your country has two or three or even four official languages? The leaders of countries like this need to speak at least a few primary languages, including English and the official language of their country. For example, the President of China Xi Jinping, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, and the chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, are all very well educated and speak more than one language.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who is Xi Jinping?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Xi Jinping (Chinese: \u4e60\u8fd1\u5e73; pinyin: X\u00ed J\u00ecnp\u00edng; born 15 June 1953) is a Chinese politician currently serving as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission. Xi is a former member of China’s top decision-making institution, the Politburo Standing Committee. The son of Communist veteran Xi Zhongxun, Xi Jinping rose through the ranks politically in China’s coastal provinces. As the General Secretary, Xi is also an ex-officio member of the Politburo Standing Committee.<\/span><\/p>\n

Does Xi Jinping speak English and German?<\/span><\/h2>\n

China’s state-run Global Times newspaper has said that the country’s President, Xi Jinping, can speak both English and German but only rarely uses his second language in public. The newspaper, known for its strident nationalist tone, said Xi’s English skills were a “well-kept secret” and were “excellent.” He can speak some German, too, it added. The English-language paper is published by the ruling Communist party’s official People’s Daily. It is unknown if the report was based on an interview with Xi or his public remarks during his visit to the US. <\/span><\/p>\n

The information is unusual because China’s leaders<\/a> usually are very secretive about their personal lives. There have been no reports of Xi ever speaking English in public. There is little evidence of him speaking any other language.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who is Vladimir Putin?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Vladimir Putin is the President of Russia, an official title in Russia. He was elected to office as the President of Russia in 2012. He was a former KGB spy, and he is the current Prime Minister of Russia. From 1999 to 2000, he served as Russia’s Prime Minister. He was a KGB agent in East Germany, and he became the head of the FSB, which is the successor agency to the KGB. He is also a former Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Does Vladimir Putin speak English and German?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Even as the globe becomes smaller, communicating in various languages is becoming increasingly crucial for those who want to succeed in business. It is pretty much a requirement. She is the first woman to hold all three of these positions. She has been ranked as the most powerful woman in the world. She is the longest-serving incumbent head of government in the European Union and the second-longest currently serving head of government globally, after only Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei.<\/span><\/p>\n

Does Angela Merkel speak English and German?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Merkel, Germany’s chancellor, has gained notoriety for being emotionless. She’s a politician who doesn’t like to waste time or indulge in small talk. But she is a human being, and like many other humans, she needs to communicate with others. And her language of choice is not German, but rather English<\/a>. Merkel has spent a good portion of her career living outside of Germany (born in Hamburg, but moved to East Germany at 3). <\/span><\/p>\n

And she still speaks with a slight accent. So learning English from an early age made it easier for her to communicate with the rest of the world. In the past, she’s used her language skills to her advantage.
