English Teacher Average Salary In Korea, Japan and China

People looking for a new career and are in the market for a new job abroad consider teaching English in Korea, China, Japan, or any other East Asian country. You will be able to earn an excellent salary, but you’ll also be able to pay off your debt. And if you’re a recent graduate, teaching in Korea can help you pay off your student loans.

The average salary for English teachers in Korea ranges from $1800 to $2400 per month, depending on experience and where you teach. If you have experience, it doesn’t matter, but the higher the number of years of experience, the higher the salary. The government also provides a monthly wage of three million won. But it’s not just the pay that is important. Teaching in Korea is the excellent working conditions and the 9-2 rule.

If you’re thinking of teaching English in Korea, you’ll need a Bachelor’s degree in English. In most hagwons, you can earn between two and three million KRW a month (about 1600-2000 USD). However, it’s crucial to know that the salaries in hagwons are unrewarding for adults. YBM and CDI schools often pay better than public schools. For five days a week, CDI offers up to 3.1 million KRW.

English teachers in japan salary

English teachers in Japan make a decent salary. According to the 2016 Salary Survey of Japanese Teachers by the Japan Teachers’ Union (JTU), the median salary for an English teacher with a four-year degree was JPY 146,000 per month. However, salaries can vary depending on your experience and qualifications. The lowest paying district in Shimane is JPY 126,000, while the highest paying district in China has JPY 192,000.

Those with previous experience in education can apply to hagwons. These schools are very similar to their home countries. They have the exact semester dates and syllabus. The school year in international schools begins in August and ends in June. You’ll need at least two years of experience and prefer to have spent some time in your home country before applying for a position in Korea. The pay can be very high, but you will also get accommodation and travel reimbursement.

English teacher salary in china

English teacher salaries in China can vary dramatically depending on the city, district, or even village. Overall, English teacher salaries are lower than in other professions in China. However, depending on experience and qualifications, an English teacher can make a respectable living in China. In Beijing, for example, a starting salary for an entry-level English teacher is around 2,500 yuan per month (approximately $380).

Salaries increase significantly with experience and qualifications. For instance, a licensed language teacher with at least five years of experience can earn 6,000 to 10,000 yuan per month (approximately $1120 to $1600), while a university-educated foreign English teacher can earn upwards of 30,000 yuan per year (roughly $4200).

Although the public school system pays its teachers more than hagwons, these students are still entitled to receive a settlement allowance. This is typically about 300 000 KRW per year. Private schools usually do not offer such benefits. Most private schools also offer paid vacation days and vacations. As a result, you’ll have an opportunity to earn a much higher salary than you would in your native country.

While the public school system pays roughly $1.20 per hour, private schools aren’t far behind. In addition, you can enjoy the same level of living as an English teacher in China. You can also save more by teaching in rural areas. Most Korean ESL schools in Korea offer housing and airfare, so you’ll be able to make more money by teaching. This means you can maximize your savings.

You’ll earn a similar income to a native English speaker in the United States as a teacher. While you’ll likely be teaching in public schools, you’ll also be teaching in private schools. The EPIK program is a good option for teachers who want to save money while living in Korea. Many of these schools are reputable and have excellent reputations for hiring ESL teachers.

If you’re looking for an English teaching job, you’ll be able to save money by living in a rural area. You can also live in a city to maximize your savings. You’ll find that most of the ESL schools in Korea are located in Seoul. But if you want to save some money, you should try to work in a more urban area. The price of living in Seoul is higher than in Gyeongju.

English teacher salary in South Korea

English teachers in South Korea earn a median salary of $54,000 per year, according to the 2016 report by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). It is considerably higher than the median salary for teachers in other developed countries. The main reason for this high pay is the relatively high cost of living in Seoul, which makes a living as an English teacher extremely attractive. In addition, South Korean schools are very competitive and often offer generous benefits, such as paid vacation and sick leave.

YBMs are popular in Korea. Most of them pay their ESL teachers more than their counterparts in the U.S. and the U.K. It is partly due to the nine-to-two rule and that most public school teachers earn less than their American colleagues. In contrast, YBMs are more expensive and require higher qualifications. In South Korea, you can earn between $2000 and $3000 per month.

Teaching abroad can be a great way to experience a new culture and make extra money. It can also be expensive, depending on where you choose to teach.

Final Words

The average salary for English teachers in Korea, Japan, and China is significantly different. While the salary in Korea is higher than in Japan and China, the cost of living is also significantly higher. Therefore, it is important to consider all aspects of each country before deciding where to teach English.
